CISRS Scaffolding Part 1
The law requires that any individual wishing to erect, alter or dismantle scaffolding must be able to prove their competency. The industry-wide accepted proof of competency for operatives is to hold a CISRS Scaffolder Card.
The CISRS Basic Scaffolding Part 1 course is suitable for adult trainees with a minimum of 6 months verifiable experience of scaffolding operations (e.g. Scaffolders’ Labourer) who want to work towards achieving a CISRS Scaffolder Card and NVQ Level 2 in Access and Rigging Operations.
Following completion of the Part 1 course operatives will have been trained to erect and dismantle certain basic scaffolds as listed below. Operatives can apply for a CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card once they have passed a Construction Skills Health and Safety Test. Following completion of the course operatives will need to gain a minimum of 6 months site experience before attending the CISRS Basic Scaffolding Part 2 course also held at LTC Training Services.
(Note: NVQ Level 2 will be required prior to obtaining the CISRS Scaffolder Card)

Aim:
The Part 1 course is designed to train suitable candidates to the objectives approved by the Construction Industry S/NVQ in the safe erection, alteration and dismantling of the following types of scaffold: Independent Independent with returnMobile TowerStatic TowerPutlogBirdcageSystem
Objectives:
By the end of the course delegates will be trained to:-
- Select, inspect and erect scaffolding structures up to 3 lifts (6m)
- Interpret and apply relevant current regulations and codes of practice
- Select and inspect scaffold materials for the serviceability
- Select the correct quantity and type of components required

- Ladder accesses to scaffolds
- Manual Handling
- Product in approved prefabrication system scaffolds
- Interpretation of drawings
- Tie methods and TG4
- Erection/ dismantle of independent access scaffold
- Erection/ dismantle of birdcage scaffolds
- Erection/ dismantle of tower scaffolds
- Erection/ dismantle of putlog scaffolds
- Alterations to scaffolds
- Theory and practical application of Gin wheels
- 50 question test paper
- Review of course
Pre-requisites For Candidates:
Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months verifiable experience of scaffolding operations (e.g. Scaffolders’ Labourer) and complete a Health Questionnaire (must be returned 21 days prior to starting the course)
Prices Per Person of CISRS Scaffolding Part 1
£695.00 per person + VAT
(Note: We require a non-refundable deposit of £100.00 to secure a place on a Part 1 course and the balance will be due no later than 21 days prior to course commencement)
Lunch & Refreshment Facilities:
Lunch and refreshments are not included within the course fees. Water and tea & coffee facilities are available on site for your use.
Course Tutor:
Neil Gray - Neil holds an advanced scaffolding ticket and has worked in the industry for many years. He started as a Scaffolder himself and later progressed to supervisor and then contracts manager level. He now works full time as our CISRS accredited scaffolding instructor.
Equipment:
You will be required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during the practical aspects of your course. LTC Training Services will provide you with a harness and lanyard for your use during training. You will be required to bring with you your own hard hat, safety boots, high visibility vest and tools. (1 x 7/16 swingover spanner, 1 x belt and frog, 1 x level and 1 x tape measure)
Accommodation & Transport
Candidates are required to book and pay for their own accommodation and transport should it be required whilst attending any of our courses. Please see attached sheet for list of local accommodation.

Certificates:
Certificates are included in the cost of this course and are produced by LTC Training Services. They will be forwarded to the customer once payment has been received in full.
Training Location Options:
Due to the nature of this training course i.e. that it involves the physical erection of live scaffold structures this course can be held only in our Scaffold Training School based on the site of our head office in Plymouth, Devon.
